About Us
Where every Jew has their basic needs met and can live a thriving Jewish life
TEN: Together Ending Need is a national Jewish nonprofit dedicated to eliminating economic vulnerability in the Jewish community. Rooted in the Jewish value of collective responsibility — the spirit that calls us to minyan, to tithing, to shmitah — we coordinate funders, strengthen organizations, and change the narrative so that financial hardship never determines who gets to participate fully in Jewish life.
Our Team
Rachel
Sumekh
Chief Executive Officer
Los Angeles, CA
Rachel Sumekh leads TEN as CEO, bringing to the role a deep commitment to Jewish communal responsibility and a track record of turning bold ideas into national movements. An Iranian Jewish entrepreneur rooted in the conviction that our community takes care of its own, Rachel has spent her career building the systems and infrastructure that allow that care to actually reach people who need it most.
Before TEN, Rachel founded Swipe Out Hunger, which grew from a student initiative at UCLA into a network spanning over 900 universities and millions of meals — and authored the Hunger Free Campus Act, introduced in 22 states, directing over $100M to campus anti-hunger programs. Her work has been recognized by Forbes' 30 Under 30 and the White House as a Champion of Change.
Rachel is an Avodah alum and serves on the boards of the Los Angeles Community College Foundation and Reboot. At TEN, she is focused on building the coordinated infrastructure the Jewish community needs to ensure that financial hardship never becomes a barrier to belonging.
Dora
Berg
Program Manager
Baltimore, MD
Dora Berg is TEN's Program Manager, supporting the organization's work collaborating with communities and funders across the country to strengthen systems that address Jewish economic vulnerability and expand access to meaningful Jewish experiences.
Prior to joining TEN, Dora spent three years at The Associated: Jewish Federation of Baltimore, where she led the development and implementation of their system-wide approach to comprehensively address Jewish economic vulnerability in the Baltimore community. She brings rare expertise in translating ambitious ideas into clear, actionable steps — and is thrilled to apply that expertise at a national scale.
A fourth-generation Baltimorean and self-described superfan of her city, Dora can be found outside of work spending time with her niece and nephew, slowly making her way through a good book, or checking out new spots around the city she loves.
